This is our company’s latest expansion within the Far East and Southeast Asia markets, following the opening of our Hong Kong office last year. Additionally, Island Oil has several years of established presence in Singapore, along with a rep. office in Shanghai.
Mr. Yongje (Jayden) Choi will be heading the office as Business Development Manager. He brings a wealth of shipping knowledge along with an excellent reputation and a positive spirit.
We are pleased to announce the new composition of the Board of Directors for Island Oil (Holdings). Most apparent is the enlargement of the Board, which is now comprised of seven members, with the appointment of three new Executive Members from within the group, along with the appointment of a new Non-Executive Member. The new composition of the Board is as follows:
Two companies in the Island Oil Holdings group have attained the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU) as recognized Traders of biofuels.
In particular, Island Oil Limited, the group’s marine fuels trading arm, has attained certification as Trader of biofuels. Additionally, Island Petroleum Limited, which offers physical supply of marine fuels, has achieved the same certification as Trader with Storage of biofuels.
Chrysostomos Papavassiliou, the group’s founder and CEO stated that, “the ISCC certification reflects our unwavering commitment to sustainable and responsible practices within the marine fuel supply chain.”
Island Oil is pleased to announce the establishment of its Hong Kong trading office. With more than 30 years of experience since its inception in Cyprus, the company continues its latest expansion into the Chinese and Far Eastern markets. The office becomes the group’s 6th trading desk alongside offices in Cyprus, Greece, Singapore, UK and Shanghai (rep. office). Island Oil Ltd is the international marine fuels and lubricants trading arm of the Island Oil Holdings group which includes Island Petroleum, physical suppliers of marine fuels in Cyprus, Israel and Romania.
Mr. Vangelis Marinakis, COO of Island Oil, stated that “our company continues on its growth trajectory and expects the new trading office to be a significant contribution in the fulfilment of its vision to be among the most reliable energy and shipping services providers.”
The Hong Kong office will be led by Michell Kamphorst, Head of International Trading Asia, who established the Singapore desk in 2014. Marshall Chan has joined as a trader, while the Hong Kong office intends to add additional headcount in the forthcoming months.

International bunker trader Island Oil is pleased to announce that the company has attained ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification for its Environmental Management System and Occupational Health and Safety Management System, respectively. This certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to reduce its environmental impact and to protect the health, safety, and well-being of its colleagues.
In addition to these certifications, since 2014, Island Oil’s Management System is certified under ISO 9001.
In 2022, the company’s Management System was re-structured to integrate all three International Standards and further improve its procedures and operations, in line with Island Oil’s values, mission and vision.
On occasion of the company’s 30 years Mr. Papavassiliou announced that Island Oil, in liaison with the Mayor of Limassol, has decided to grant funding for the Cultural Centre of Limassol. “This is in line with the company’s ongoing corporate social responsibility toward a city that hosted Island Oil for so many years”, he added.

We would like to inform that, effective as of September 1st 2022, Island Oil Holdings’ CFO, Mr. Nicolas Jirkas, will assume an additional role as Deputy CEO of the group.
In addition, Mr. Aris Athanasiades has joined Island Oil Holdings as Deputy CFO, also effective as of September 1st. Mr. Athanasiades is a chartered accountant who has held a similar position in the shipping industry and joins us with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Island Oil Holdings, a group of companies whose main commercial activities revolve around the supply and trading of marine bunker and lubricants, announces the appointment of Mark Bresnahan to the newly created position of Head of Sustainable Fuels of Island Oil Limited, based in the UK subsidiary, with effect October 4th, 2021.
In line with the Group plans for sustainable growth, Island Oil (Holdings) Ltd is pleased to announce Ana Beatriz Rossetto as our new Bunker Trader at Island Oil Trading (UK) Limited, with effect from 20th September 2021. Mrs. Rossetto is a highly respected professional, widely known in the bunkering industry from her career at Petrobras.
The Ministry of Energy and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) have awarded Island Oil (Holdings) Ltd with the “Export Services Award” for the year 2019.
